What makes Thinsulate insulation so important to cold-weather footwear?
Three words: thin, warm and light. Thinsulate insulation has nearly twice the warmth of foam, felt, or pile and is one of the lightest synthetic insulations on the market. Durable and compression resistant, Thinsulate insulation can take a beating and still retain the little pockets of air so important for keeping feet warm. Able to retain warmth when wet - absorbing less than 1% of its weight in water - Thinsulate keeps feet warm even in damp conditions.

How does breatha-tex work?
Breatha-tex is very much the same as gortex, it is basically a membrane that allows moisture vapours (sweat) to be released, whilst also preventing substances such as oil, dirt, wind and rain from penetrating.

    Great boot but poor grip

Published by Martin on 30th Apr 2017

Tried this out a replacement to the German para's I'd had. They're very comfortable and didn't take much breaking in despite being new.

Unfortunately one of the reasons I wanted them is for scrambling, and the boots simply don't have the grip of the paras. They're very poor on wet rock. They also have no grip in the middle of the soul so if you ride a motorcycle (as I also do) that gap sits on the peg and can slide off.

If you need this as a work boot or for normal walking this won't be a problem as they're very grippy on tarmac, but sadly for me they can't be trusted.
